January 20th marked an unforgettable day at Drexel University with Homecoming festivities in full swing. Anticipation filled the air as my friends and I geared up for the bonfire event, ready to create lasting memories. However, our excitement was cut short by an unexpected snowstorm that led to the cancellation of the bonfire. Disappointed but not discouraged, we quickly shifted gears and decided to make the most of the evening by attending the Ice Hockey game at the nearby 1923 Arena.
Despite the chilly weather, we bundled up and made our way to Upenn University for the game. Now, I’ll admit, I wasn’t exactly a hockey enthusiast – my knowledge of the sport was limited at best. But from the moment the game began, I was completely captivated. The speed, the skill, the sheer intensity of the game – it was unlike anything I had ever experienced before. And as the game went into overtime, the tension in the arena was palpable. In the end, Drexel emerged victorious in a thrilling overtime showdown, securing the win with a remarkable final shot that had the crowd roaring with excitement. It was a moment of pure adrenaline and one that I’ll cherish forever.

With our appetites worked up from the excitement of the game, my friends and I set out in search of a late-night meal. Unfortunately, most of the restaurants in Central City were closing up for the night, leaving us with limited options. But just when we thought our night was over, we stumbled upon “Panda Express” and eagerly dug into plates of delicious Chinese fast food, savoring every bite.
As I cracked open my fortune cookie and read the message inside – “My courage will bring good to me” – I couldn’t help but reflect on the incredible journey I had been on since joining the exchange program at Drexel. From making new friends to embracing new experiences, it had been a whirlwind adventure filled with ups and downs. But through it all, one thing remained clear – the importance of stepping outside of my comfort zone and embracing the unknown.
Looking back on that snowy Homecoming night, I couldn’t help but feel grateful for the unexpected twists and turns that had led me to where I was today. It was a reminder that life is full of surprises, and sometimes the greatest adventures are the ones we least expect.
